Roy Toft is an award-winning wildlife photographer committed to documenting nature and wildlife, especially as they relate to conservation issues. His work has been featured in publications including National Geographic, Audubon, Discover, Smithsonian, and Wildlife Conservation Magazines. Roy's images are also available worldwide through stock agencies including the National Geographic Image Collection, Auscapes, and Getty Images. With a BS degree in wildlife biology as well as a teaching degree, Roy enjoys leading several photo tours and workshops throughout the year for his company Toft Photo Safaris. Destinations include Botswana, Alaska, India, Costa Rica, and Brazil.
Roy makes his home on ten acres in the mountainous north county of San Diego, California with his wife Robin and three Labrador Retrievers (Beau, Summer and Tundra). Roy enjoys essentially everything active and outdoors including hiking with the dogs, surfing, and mountain biking. His favorite pastime when not traveling for photography is designing and cultivating his extensive garden, inspired by South African flora, including a wide variety of aloes and other exotic plants.
Follow the International League of Conservation Photographers for a R.A.V.E. in the Flathead River Valley in Southeastern British Columbia. The goal of these Rapid Assessment Visual Expeditions is to capture compelling media to support an existing conservation effort. Here, in one of the most pristine river valleys on the planet, a proposed open pit coal mine would disrupt a critical habitat migration corridor and pollute the headwaters of Glacier National Park in the US.
