Uri Golman
Como, Italy

I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1974 and I am a 100% self-taught photographer now living in Como, Italy.

I grew up surrounded by nature and photography came very early. I was taking pictures of everything and found adventurous inspiration in old books. All my childhood I dreamt of wild adventures, photographing wildlife and nature in the Arctic. Today I have published several books and articles on the subject and the camera have given me adventures that I would never have dared to dream.

I simply love the adventure, the stories and creating the images and I hope this shines trough my work.

For many years I have worked as a nature photographer with focus on conservation and adventures in the wild. I have deliberately sought to focus on nature, untouched by human hand. I strongly believe in creating beautiful images instead of producing gory documentary work that shows the degradation of nature. My belief is that beauty will create awe, inspiration and love – and what we love, we will protect.

I always like to try to push the creative boundaries to invent new ways of seeing things. Polar bears, tigers, and other wild animals have been photographed for years and yet you see new and exciting images quite often. Photography and nature combines an inexhaustible source of inspiration that makes my work ever exciting.

Finally humans have started to take a place in my photography again. I want to explore the connection between man and nature. Working with fashion, taking it a bit out of context and mixing it with my skills as a nature photographer. This has become a new adventure and a project that I have decided to call WILD. I believe that we are all wild to start with and that we become culturally tame over time. Maybe it is time that we start to get a bit of nature back into our lives and become WILD once again.

My clients include National Geographic, National Geographic Extreme Explorer, BBC Wildlife, BBC Knowledge, WWF, NUDE Magazine, Daily Mail, Digital Photography, and Danish Photography etc.

I am also a fellow associate of the ILCP (International League of Conservation Photographers) and the local ambassador for Canon Denmark.
